Gladfield makes this unique Toffee
Malt by taking a lower to mid-range nitrogen winter or autumn barley variety,
roasting the resulting malt at very low temperatures, and then caramelising the
malt. The low temperature and slower roasting produces a malt with a very light
colour, a chewy consistency, with honey or toffee flavours. Not only does it
add a wonderful malty, honey toffee flavour to lighter coloured beers but it
also enhances beer stability, body and mouthfeel.
Product of New Zealand.
Typical colour: 12 EBC
A $0.30/kg discount applies to any order of 4 kg or more of one type of malt. We do charge a $0.20/kg fee if you need your malt crushed, which is to cover the larger bags, extra time and maintenance required for the crushing service. This is so that we can keep our basic prices low for all our malts. To get the lowest possible price, buy by the 25 kg sack.
This is a crystal malt and can be
crushed, steeped in water and added to an extract brew, or included with base
malts in a mash to add sweet honeyed flavours and improved body.
